Five days of food in a sealed bag or cans Bottled water and a bowl Any medicine your dog takes, with the dose written down A leash and a spare, plus a collar with tags A photo of your vet records on your phone and one printed copy A favorite toy or blanket that smells like home Check the tag and the chip Storms are when dogs get lost. Doors blow open. Fences come down. Loud noise makes even calm dogs bolt. Read the tag on the collar. Can you still read the phone number? Then call your microchip company and make sure the chip has your current number too. It takes ten minutes and it is the single best thing on this list. Is it too hot for your dog's paws right now? Why hot pavement is dangerous Dogs cool off mostly through panting, not sweating. When they walk on burning hot ground, heat moves straight into their paw pads. Every dog has a limit. Breed, coat, and how well they handle heat all play a part. Asphalt and concrete soak up sun fast. They can get 40 to 60 degrees hotter than the air around them. Asphalt can hit 125 degrees when the air is only 85. That is hot enough to burn in under 60 seconds. Paw pads are tough and thick. So dogs often hide the pain at first. The burn can be bad even when you cannot see it. The seven second test Before you step out, try this quick check. Use the back of your hand. That skin is thinner and more sensitive to heat than your palm. Find a sunny spot on the pavement, right where the sun has been beating down. Press down firmly and hold for seven seconds while you count slowly. How do you handle my keys and home security? Your security comes first. Your key stays at your home in a lockbox, so it never leaves your property. Any door or alarm codes are kept in a secure system. We keep them private. Every walker is a W-2 employee we background check and train, and our whole team is trained on building and security rules. We are fully insured and bonded. Will my pet have the same caregiver each visit? We always try to send your main caregiver.
